Mr Wong Man-yin Den\u00adny<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bai Juyi is one of the great Tang poets. The young Bai did not find it easy to make ends meet when he was young and had not yet estab\u00adlished a name for him\u00adself. Once he had resolved on a lit\u00ader\u00adary career, he trav\u00adelled from Jiang\u00adnan to the cap\u00adi\u00adtal, Changan, to show his poet\u00adry to Gu Kuang, a lit\u00ader\u00adary leader at that time. Since \u2018Juyi\u2019 lit\u00ader\u00adal\u00adly means \u2018easy liv\u00ading\u2019, upon see\u00ading Bai\u2019s name on the man\u00adu\u00adscripts, Gu joked: \u2018Rice is expen\u00adsive in Changan. Liv\u00ading here is no easy mat\u00adter!\u2019 What Gu meant was that, giv\u00aden the high liv\u00ading stan\u00addard in the cap\u00adi\u00adtal, mak\u00ading a liv\u00ading there is not an easy mat\u00adter at all. In fact, the same could be said of Hong Kong 1,200 years lat\u00ader. Peo\u00adple who live in Hong Kong, espe\u00adcial\u00adly the younger gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion, have faced sim\u00adi\u00adlar liv\u00ading and hous\u00ading prob\u00adlems. The basic neces\u00adsi\u00adty of \u2018easy liv\u00ading\u2019 becomes a chal\u00adlenge. The young must be real\u00adis\u00adtic and always go an extra mile in the hope of climb\u00ading up the social lad\u00adder in order to put a roof above their heads.<\/p>\n

Forty-five years ago, Mr Wong Man-yin Den\u00adny grad\u00adu\u00adat\u00aded from New Asia Col\u00adlege of the Chi\u00adnese Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty of Hong Kong (CUHK) with a Bachelor\u2019s degree major in Eco\u00adnom\u00adics and minor in Busi\u00adness Admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion. In a talk giv\u00aden at his alma mater, he shared with the stu\u00addents how he coped with life\u2019s chal\u00adlenges in the first few years after grad\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion and how such tribu\u00adla\u00adtions had made him stronger. He did not hes\u00adi\u00adtate to point out that, step\u00adping into a new work\u00adplace, fresh grad\u00adu\u00adates \u2018should be hum\u00adble, expand their social net\u00adworks, be proac\u00adtive, thor\u00adough and swift in acquir\u00ading new knowl\u00adedge and cher\u00adish each learn\u00ading oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty.\u2019 He encour\u00adaged the stu\u00addents to spare no effort to take up more work so as to learn more. What is learned this way will one day become the cor\u00adner\u00adstones and assets of their careers. From his first\u00adhand expe\u00adri\u00adence Mr Wong thinks that being proac\u00adtive, eager to shoul\u00adder respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties, sin\u00adcere and friend\u00adly are the keys to suc\u00adcess. His resound\u00ading words of wis\u00addom are music to the new grad\u00adu\u00adates which will bring them life\u00adlong ben\u00ade\u00adfits.<\/p>\n

Mr Wong does not only preach a proac\u00adtive and open atti\u00adtude. He has prac\u00adtised it him\u00adself all his life. After grad\u00adu\u00adat\u00ading from CUHK, he worked for a lead\u00ading prop\u00ader\u00adty devel\u00adop\u00ader. As a new recruit, he per\u00adsist\u00aded in tak\u00ading up the chal\u00adlenges with humil\u00adi\u00adty, accom\u00adplish\u00ading the tasks through seek\u00ading coun\u00adsel and exert\u00ading relent\u00adless effort irre\u00adspec\u00adtive of how demand\u00ading the work was. Mr Wong absorbed new knowl\u00adedge like a sponge and always direct\u00aded him\u00adself towards right\u00adeous\u00adness. He cul\u00adti\u00advat\u00aded friend\u00adships with peo\u00adple from all walks of life with thank\u00adful\u00adness and in good faith. In 1978, after hon\u00ading his skills for four years, he co-found\u00aded the Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency with Mr Shih Wing-ching. The Agency start\u00aded as a nano-busi\u00adness with only a desk and a tele\u00adphone shared between the two part\u00adners, rent\u00aded from a lease\u00adhold\u00ader of a small office in Cen\u00adtral. Ten years lat\u00ader, the Agency was already a mar\u00adket leader amongst Hong Kong real estate agen\u00adcies. With his high com\u00adpe\u00adtence, dis\u00adcern\u00ading eye and strong lead\u00ader\u00adship, Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency had changed the busi\u00adness mod\u00adel of real estate agency and raised the busi\u00adness ethics, pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal con\u00adduct and ser\u00advice stan\u00addard of the indus\u00adtry. By 2018, the Cen\u00adtaline Group had devel\u00adoped into a mam\u00admoth ven\u00adture with 2,600 branch\u00ades in main\u00adland Chi\u00adna, Hong Kong, Macau, and Tai\u00adwan employ\u00ading over 55,000 per\u00adsons. Its turnover was HK$18.98 bil\u00adlion, and its after-tax prof\u00adits was HK$501 mil\u00adlion, and even reached HK$1.05 bil\u00adlion in the good year of 2017.<\/p>\n

In 1992, Mr Wong did not fur\u00adther man\u00adage the Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency and found\u00aded Cap\u00adi\u00adtal Prop\u00ader\u00adty Con\u00adsul\u00adtants.  But he did not sell his shares in Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency and remains until today as share\u00adhold\u00ader of Cen\u00adtaline Group hold\u00ading 45% of its shares. In 1996, Mr Wong estab\u00adlished the Hong Kong Cham\u00adber of Pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal Prop\u00ader\u00adty Con\u00adsul\u00adtants Lim\u00adit\u00aded with oth\u00ader cap\u00adtains of the indus\u00adtry and became its first Chair\u00adman. In 1999, he acquired Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty Co. Ltd, lat\u00ader also acquired Easy House Prop\u00ader\u00adties Ltd., then merged the two Easy real estate agen\u00adcies under the trade name of Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty, and has served as man\u00adag\u00ading direc\u00adtor since 2002. Nowa\u00addays, the Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty spe\u00adcial\u00adizes in prop\u00ader\u00adty agency busi\u00adness in Hong Kong Island East and Shatin. More than 40 years have now passed since Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency was found\u00aded. From Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency to Cap\u00adi\u00adtal Prop\u00ader\u00adty Con\u00adsul\u00adtants, and from Cap\u00adi\u00adtal Prop\u00ader\u00adty Con\u00adsul\u00adtants to Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty, Mr Wong has been lead\u00ading his com\u00adpa\u00adnies in new direc\u00adtions, onto paths not tak\u00aden by oth\u00ader agen\u00adcies before, such as estab\u00adlish\u00ading inter\u00adnal guide\u00adlines to refrain from tak\u00ading part in prop\u00ader\u00adty spec\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtions., He places his pri\u00ador\u00adi\u00adties on pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal ethics and ser\u00advices, as well as decent organ\u00adi\u00adsa\u00adtion\u00adal man\u00adage\u00adment. He also empha\u00adsizes that a prop\u00ader\u00adty agency should prac\u00adtise social respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty.  Mr Wong spares no effort in cre\u00adat\u00ading an easy liv\u00ading envi\u00adron\u00adment and has estab\u00adlished him\u00adself as a leader in the indus\u00adtry as well as a role mod\u00adel for the young.<\/p>\n

In addi\u00adtion to giv\u00ading fre\u00adquent media inter\u00adviews to pro\u00advide pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal analy\u00adses on real estate, Mr Wong often serves as keynote speak\u00aders at pub\u00adlic forums and com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty activ\u00adi\u00adties. Since 2000, Mr Wong has been writ\u00ading arti\u00adcles to com\u00adment on the real estate mar\u00adket and to express his views on polit\u00adi\u00adcal, eco\u00adnom\u00adic, social, edu\u00adca\u00adtion\u00adal and human\u00adi\u00adties issues. The arti\u00adcles are known for their per\u00adspi\u00adcac\u00adi\u00adty and style, and can be found in major news\u00adpa\u00adpers and web\u00adsites (e.g., the web\u00adsites of Cen\u00adtaline Prop\u00ader\u00adty Agency, Rica\u00adcorp Prop\u00ader\u00adties, Prop\u00ader\u00adty Hong Kong, Many Wells Prop\u00ader\u00adty, Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty and Finet etc.).<\/p>\n

While pur\u00adsu\u00ading a dis\u00adtin\u00adguished career in the estate agency pro\u00adfes\u00adsion, Mr Wong has not neglect\u00aded his role in doing ser\u00advice to the com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty and has been lend\u00ading a help\u00ading hand to the young. Every year, he donates on the aver\u00adage half of the net prof\u00adit of Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty to char\u00adi\u00adty, ben\u00ade\u00adfit\u00adting the com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty and set\u00adting an exam\u00adple of social respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adty. As a CUHK alum\u00adnus, Mr Wong cares about the devel\u00adop\u00adment of the Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty and New Asia Col\u00adlege. He has been pro\u00advid\u00ading car\u00ading and gen\u00ader\u00adous sup\u00adport to the cause of tal\u00adent cul\u00adti\u00adva\u00adtion. He has served as a mem\u00adber of the Gen\u00ader\u00adal Edu\u00adca\u00adtion Advi\u00adso\u00adry Board of New Asia Col\u00adlege since 2008 and the Board of Trustees since 2009. Through his self\u00adless con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions, Mr Wong became a role mod\u00adel for all mem\u00adbers of the New Asia com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty. He has also donat\u00aded sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant\u00adly to estab\u00adlish schol\u00adar\u00adships that encour\u00adage stu\u00addents to improve them\u00adselves and broad\u00aden their hori\u00adzons. In 2014, he was invit\u00aded to give a talk enti\u00adtled \u2018Keys to Suc\u00adcess \u2013 Abil\u00adi\u00adty, Per\u00adson\u00adal Qual\u00adi\u00adty and Vision\u2019 for the Pro\u00adgram for the Gift\u00aded & Tal\u00adent\u00aded of the Fac\u00adul\u00adty of Edu\u00adca\u00adtion at CUHK, where he shared his expe\u00adri\u00adences and wis\u00addom with stu\u00addents and par\u00adents. Today\u2019s stu\u00addents are the pil\u00adlars of tomorrow\u2019s soci\u00adety; through his benev\u00ado\u00adlence, Mr Wong has sowed the seeds of many good things which will cer\u00adtain\u00adly be har\u00advest\u00aded by us in the years to come.<\/p>\n

In Chi\u00adnese, \u2018easy liv\u00ading\u2019 and \u2018pleas\u00adant liv\u00ading (the Chi\u00adnese name of Easy Prop\u00ader\u00adty)\u2019 are homonyms. How\u00adev\u00ader, a sub\u00adtle dif\u00adfer\u00adence sep\u00ada\u00adrates them: the for\u00admer speaks of a basic neces\u00adsi\u00adty, where\u00adas the lat\u00adter is a state to which every\u00adone aspires. A dis\u00adtin\u00adguished entre\u00adpre\u00adneur, Mr Wong\u2019s dis\u00adtin\u00adguished career has helped to pro\u00advide an \u2018easy liv\u00ading\u2019 envi\u00adron\u00adment for cit\u00adi\u00adzens. He has devot\u00aded him\u00adself to serv\u00ading the com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty, tak\u00ading care of the young, shoul\u00adder\u00ading social respon\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adi\u00adties, and paving the way for oth\u00aders to attain \u2018pleas\u00adant liv\u00ading\u2019.
